The Color Guard Wants You!
The American Revolution
Proportionate to the size of the population, the Revolutionary War was the second most costly war in American history. During the eight years it lasted from April 1775 until September 1783, over 25,000 soldiers died. It brought deadly disease to thousands of civilians, wreaked havoc on the economy, and practically drove our great nation to its knees. General George Washington was so amazed at its outcome, that he said it was "a little short of a standing miracle" that we had won.
SAR Chapters in Washington State
There are eight chapters in our state; two in eastern Washington, and six in western Washington. We are currently undergoing a surge in new membership applications. Prospective members are invited to attend monthly meetings at any of our chapters. The meeting times are listed under "Chapters," but these times are subject to change. You are, therefore, encouraged to contact the respective chapter President before simply dropping-in for a visit. Use the email form that is found under Contact Us to make an inquiry. We look forward to meeting you.
Compatriots, distinguished guests, and ladies. What an honor and a privilege it is to stand before you this evening as your 113th President General of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution. I am humbled and I appreciate the confidence that you have bestowed upon me by electing me to this position. I am excited to serve you and this worthy organization.

Now that the school-year has begun, the SAR would like to encourage you to take advantage of all that we have to offer. In addition to sponsoring various contests that pay out cash awards at the local, state, and national levels, we also have "SAR-Presenters" who will come to your school and give presentations (free of charge) about life in colonial times. These Presenters are comfortable in the classroom, and will make the learning experience interactive and fun.
